Free motion Quilting on your domestic sewing machine 

Session 2 - Session 1 not a requirement

Reference books and examples of quilting work will be available to use during class

We had the basics of free motion class in Feb, now we will take it a bit further and combine quilting designs on your domestic sewing machine.  (session 1 is not a requirement for session 2)

Prior to Class:

Make 3-5  18” square quilt sandwich(s) with muslin fabric – to practice quilting  

• Mark or stitch a 2” inch grid on one or more 18” quilt sandwich(s)
• Mark or stitch 2” straight lines on one or more 18” quilt sandwich(s) " Click here for detailed instructions "

Supplies for free motion class:

• Paper to  practice drawing designs
• Pencils and  fabric marking pens
• Different color threads, and lots of pre-wound bobbins.
• Sewing machine with extension table (if you have one)
• Needles, notions, gripping gloves, (garden gloves work well)
• Hopping/Darning foot
• Sack lunch

Class will start promptly @ 9am-  doors open @ 8:15am

Shirley will go over how to combine feathers, pebbles, swirls, double clam shells  and more.....

Jan will go over how to create and quilt motifs and all over designs for your quilts.

• Make sure your machine is free of fuzz and has a new needle! (size 90/14 or larger.)
• Bring a small quilt that's ready for quilting, and we will start the process.  Comfort quilts are great for practice as well!
