CIQ Community Outreach
Comfort Quilts
We have a special “workshop” in January where we sew Comfort Quilts for Special needs children at Providence Hospital Children’s Center and their families, Skagit Friendship House, and our local WIC program. Our goal is for each child in the program and their siblings to receive a quilt.
Camano Island Quilters (CIQ) provides Comfort Quilts for:
- Providence Hospital Women and Children’s Center
- Providence’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit in Everett: Preemie quilts and hats for premature babies
- Friendship House Women’s and Children’s Shelter of Mt. Vernon
- WIC (Women, Infants and Children local program)

Christmas Stockings
Each year members of CIQ bring the stocking to the annual Christmas luncheon in December, that are distributed to local charities to help bring holiday cheer to children in our community. CIQ has stocking patterns, fabric, and embellishments, to sew and these items are available at our Open Sew gathering 2nd Monday of each month.
CIQ provides Christmas Stockings to:
- Housing Hope Child Development Center in Everett Wa.
2025 we provided 168 beautiful Christmas stockings
2024 we provided 134 beautiful Christmas stockings

Community Open Sew
CIQ Community Open Sew is scheduled from 10am to 2pm, every 2nd Monday of the month at Stanwood United Methodist Church, and is open to Members as well as the community. This is an opportunity to bring sewing projects that you may need help with or you want to sew with like minded folks; and for those who wish to learn to sew are encouraged to join our open sewing sessions once per month.
- Please bring a sewing machine and sewing tools
- The guild will also include sewing for CIQ Charities and have kits available for Comfort quilts and Christmas stockings for our CIQ members.
